This cake will remind you of a tart or fruit pie. If you’ve never tried a cake made with fresh berries, then you must give this one a go.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
- ½ cup (120 ml) white sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) rolled oats
- 1 cup (240 ml) butter or margarine, melted
- 25 oz (500 g) box yellow cake mix
- 4 cups (960 ml) fresh blackberries
Directions:
- Turn the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Pull out a 9×13 inch (22.5×32.5 cm) glass or metal baking dish.
- Pour the berries, sugar and cinnamon into the bottom of the dish, mixing just a bit to combine.
- Spread the dry cake mix and oats evenly over the filling, being sure not to leave any clumps of powder.
- Pour the melted butter evenly over the pan. DO NOT MIX.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or slightly longer if using a glass dish, until the top is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
